Welcome! Central Inventions ("Central Inventions", "we", or "us") provides this Privacy Policy to inform you of our policies and procedures regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information we receive from users of our websites (such as https://www.stackmaps.com and www.centralinventions.com), or when you attend a Central Inventions event or otherwise interact with us. This Privacy Policy applies to visitors of our websites and individuals registered for our Services ("Users", "you", or "your"). Your privacy is important to us. Please read this policy carefully to understand how we will collect, use, and disclose your personal information, and what choices you have with respect to your personal information.
1. Information We Collect and Why
As part of our online learning software, we receive various data about you, including "Personal Data," which means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person. Personal Data includes, for example, your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, as well as any other non-public information about you that is associated with or linked to any of the foregoing data. We may also receive Personal Data from you if we contact each other via email or telephone. Personal Data also includes the information that is automatically collected when you use our website, such as public or private IP addresses. We may also record any information necessary for identifying and proactively blocking attempted attacks on our service. Except as noted in this Privacy Policy, we do not link this automatically-collected data to Personal Data associated with your Stackmaps account. We use this information you provide to improve and secure our website.
We do not currently respond to "Do Not Track" signals or other mechanisms that might enable consumers to opt out of tracking, however our website and our learning software do not use any tracking.
2. Use of Your Personal Data
We process your Personal data based on your consent under Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR, which you can withdraw at any time. The Personal Data you submit to us is used to help us improve our online learning software, help us learn how to more effectively serve people who use online learning materials and to enable you to request a password reset via email. We may also use your Personal Data to improve our websites and curriculum materials. We will use your Personal Data to contact you with respect to the online courses which you have joined and other courses and opportunities we believe may be of interest to you in the future.
3. Disclosure of Your Personal Data We disclose your Personal Data as described below and as described elsewhere in this Privacy Policy.
(a) Payment Processors & Other Third Party Service Providers
We may share your Personal Data with third party service providers (e.g. AWS, Google) to help us provide, improve, secure, and promote our learning software and our website. These third parties may have access to your Personal Data to perform services on our behalf and in compliance with this Privacy Policy. We will be responsible for the third parties we use to perform services on our behalf.
(b) Other Disclosures
Regardless of any choices you make regarding your Personal Data, Central Inventions may disclose Personal Data to third parties if it believes in good faith that such disclosure is necessary (a) in connection with any legal investigation; (b) to prevent fraud or abuse of Central Inventions or other users; (c) to comply with relevant laws, lawful requests and legal processes, including to respond to requests from public and government authorities to meet national security or law enforcement requirements or to respond to subpoenas or warrants served on Central Inventions; (d) to protect or defend the rights or property of Central Inventions, and/or (e) to investigate or assist in preventing any violation or potential violation of the law, this Privacy Policy, or our Terms of Use. We may also disclose your Personal Data with your consent.
4. Your Choices Regarding Your Information You have several choices regarding use of information that you provide when accessing our website or the grant application form:
(a) Email Communications
We may periodically send you free newsletters and e-mails that directly promote our online learning opportunities, learning opportunities offered by our partners, or other information we believe may be beneficial for you. When you receive newsletters or promotional communications from us, you may indicate a preference to stop receiving further communications from us and you will have the opportunity to "opt-out" by following the unsubscribe instructions provided in the e-mail you receive or by contacting us directly (please see contact information above). Despite your indicated e-mail preferences, we may send you service related communications, including notices of any updates to our Terms of Use or Privacy Policy.
(b) Changing, Requesting or Deleting Your Personal Data
If you would like us to change or delete Personal Data about you in our systems, or to see what Personal Data we have about you in our systems, please contact us at events@team-ci.com. We may retain an archived copy of certain records as required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as accounting records but otherwise delete all applications within 6 months of receipt. Note that changing or deleting certain Personal Data in our records may not change the status of a grant application that has already been submitted and reviewed by us prior to the requested change or deletion. A request for full deletion of all Personal Data or a withdrawal of consent to process your Personal Data will be treated as a request to cancel any pending applications.
5. A Note About Children
We do not intentionally gather Personal Data from users who are under the age of 16. If a child under 16 submits Personal Data to Central Inventions and we learn that the Personal Data is the information of a child under 16, we will attempt to delete the information as soon as possible. If you believe that We might have any Personal Data from a child under 16, please contact us at events@team-ci.com.
6. International Data Transfer
Personal Data that we collect from you, will be transferred to, stored at, and processed by us, and other third parties in countries outside the European Economic Area, including, but not limited to, the United States and other countries, where data protection and privacy regulations may not offer the same level of protection as in other parts of the world. The European Commission has not issued an adequacy decision for regarding a suitable level of data protection for US-based entities who are not part of the Privacy Shield program, including Central Inventions. By using our website and submitting Personal Data via the grant application form, you agree to this transfer, storing, or processing and consent is the legal basis for this transfer.
7. Security
The security of your Personal Data is important to us. We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the Personal Data submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. No method of transmission over the internet or method of storage is 100% secure, however. Therefore, we cannot guarantee the absolute security of our website or our online learning software. 8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy is subject to occasional revision, and if we make any material changes in the way we use your Personal Data, we will notify you by sending you an e-mail to the last e-mail address you provided to us and/or by prominently posting notice of the changes on our website. Any changes to this Privacy Policy will be effective upon the earlier of thirty (30) calendar days following our dispatch of an e-mail notice to you or thirty (30) calendar days following our posting of notice of the changes on our website. These changes will be effective immediately for new users of our website or the grant application form. Please note that at all times you are responsible for updating your Personal Data to provide us with your most current e-mail address. In the event that the last e-mail address that you have provided us is not valid, or for any reason is not capable of delivering to you the notice described above, our dispatch of the e-mail containing such notice will nonetheless constitute effective notice of the changes described in the notice. If you do not wish to permit changes in our use of your Personal Data, you must notify us prior to the effective date of the changes that you want us to delete all of your Personal Data. Continued use of our website or the grant application form, following notice of such changes shall indicate your acknowledgement of such changes and consent to the revised Privacy Policy.
